Emergency dental services in Salt Lake City

Every service below is done by our own dentists at the 4500 South office.

How it works

  1. Call first. Dial (385) 480-0270. Our front desk answers while the office is open; a live answering service covers the rest.
  2. We hold a same-day time. If we're open, you're put into that day's schedule. If it's a Thursday afternoon or a weekend, the answering service records what you tell them, and the first opening on the next office day is held for you (after a weekend, that means Monday at 8:00 AM).
  3. Get treated. You arrive, we take the X-ray, one of our dentists explains what's wrong, and a written quote lands in your hand before a single thing is done.

$99 emergency exam and X-ray

For anyone paying out of pocket, the visit that tells you what's wrong costs $99. That figure pays for a limited emergency exam plus an X-ray of the sore tooth. The treatment that follows is not included, because we can't price an extraction or a root canal until we've seen the roots.

The $99 emergency exam fee is for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

Once the dentist has a diagnosis, you get the treatment price on paper. Nothing starts until you agree. For the full sequence, read the cost and insurance page.

Insurance and payment

We are in network with Delta Dental Premier, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah, SelectHealth and Cigna. If yours is one of those four plans, we bill the exam and X-ray to your insurance. Most other dental plans are out of network, and we submit the claim for you.

Cash and credit cards are accepted. For larger treatments, we offer CareCredit financing and credit union financing. In some cases we can split a larger bill into payments; ask when you call.

Office hours and after-hours calls

Our chairs are open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The office is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The phone is a different story. Someone answers it 24/7. While we're open that's our front desk; after hours, it's a live answering service. Dial us late on a Saturday night and a live person picks up. Whoever answers jots down your name, your number and which tooth is bothering you, then saves Monday morning's first opening for you. Our same-day dentist page explains what "today" means on each day of the week.

Some situations shouldn't wait for us. Head for a hospital first when swelling climbs toward the eye or drops into the neck, when breathing or swallowing gets hard, or when bleeding refuses to stop. Intermountain Medical Center is on State Street at 5300 South, about 2 miles south of us, and St. Mark's Hospital is on 1200 East near 3900 South, about 2 miles northeast. Utah emergency rooms do not pull teeth, so once you're stable, call us for the tooth.

Neighborhoods we serve

Our office sits on 4500 South, a block east of State Street, in the Murray area of the central Salt Lake Valley. The areas below are all within about 15 minutes in normal traffic.

The service area page has drive times from Sandy, West Valley City, downtown and other parts of the valley.

Frequently asked questions

Can I be seen today?

Yes, as long as you call while we're open: Monday through Wednesday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or Thursday 8:00 AM to noon. We set aside same-day times for emergencies. Call (385) 480-0270 before you leave the house; walk-ins aren't accepted, and calling first is how we make sure a dentist is ready for you.

Are you open on Saturday or Sunday?

Not the office. The chairs are empty Friday through Sunday. On those days a live person still answers, records what's wrong and sets Monday's first opening aside for you. For spreading swelling or trouble breathing on a weekend, go to the nearest emergency room first.

What does the $99 cover?

For patients paying without insurance, the $99 buys a limited, problem-focused emergency exam plus the X-ray that shows what's wrong with the tooth. Treatment isn't part of it. After the exam the dentist writes up a treatment quote, and nothing happens until you say yes. If you carry one of our four in-network plans, we send the exam and X-ray charges to that plan instead.

Do you only see current patients?

No. The practice opened in 2025, and most emergency visits are first visits. Bring photo ID. If you have dental insurance, bring that card too, along with the names of the medicines you take.
